A Florida mom was arrested and charged with child neglect after she left her young kids in a freezing parked car so that she could go hog hunting.
Police say Kayla Shavers left her nine-year-old and eight-month-old in a parked car and went into the woods near her property to hunt hogs. Cops received a 911 call from the nine-year-old who said he was freezing and "a police car would be warmer." Cops arrived and waited 40 minutes for their mom to emerge from the woods.
Police say Shavers claimed she was close enough to the car to respond to the kids if they needed help and even left the keys with the nine-year-old to turn on the car for heat if he got cold. (WTSP-TV Tampa)

Fans no longer give a quack about "Duck Dynasty."
TV Line reports that 8.5 million people tuned in for the fifth season premiere of "Duck Dynasty" on Wednesday (Jan. 15), down from 12 million viewers who watched the fourth season premiere.
In the highly sought after age demographic of 18-49, only 4.2 million tuned in.

A pimp in Portland, Oregon convicted of assaulting a man was sentenced to 100 years in prison and says Nike is partly to blame.
Sirgiogiro Clardy is suing Nike because the shoe maker never provided an adequate warning about the potential for injuries caused by using them as deadly weapons. He was wearing Air Jordans when he kicked and stomped on the face of a man he claims owed him money.
Clardy claims that Nike should be liable for the extent of his victim's injuries and his resulting 100-year prison sentence. He's seeking $100-million and also wants Nike to be required to affix labels to its shoes warning of the potential dangers of using them to stomp on people's faces. (The Oregonian)

A sheriff has refused to fly the U.S. flag at half-mast today in honor of Nelson Mandela because the late South African leader is 'not an American'.
Rick Clark, the sheriff in Pickens County, South Carolina, posted a message on Friday saying that he would ignore President Obama's executive order intended as a mark of respect to Mandela, a leader regarded globally as an inspiration for leading South Africa out of apartheid.
Sheriff Clark's Facebook message appears to have since been removed, but it read: 'Nelson Mandela did great things for his country and was a brave man but he was not an AMERICAN!!!'
