BREAKING NEWS APPLE WINS: $1 BILLION VERDICT against SAMSUNG

A federal jury in California on Friday recommended that Apple be awarded more than $1 billion in damages after finding Samsung was guilty of "willful" violations of a number of Apple's patents in the creation of its own mobile products. The jury's decisions on several of Samsung's counterclaims against Apple were still being read in court.

The jury did not recommend awarding Samsung any money in its counterclaims that Apple had violated some of its patents. The judge and lawyers from both Apple and Samsung continued to discuss the jury forms late Friday afternoon.

Apple had asked for $2.5 billion in damages, claiming that Samsung "ripped off" its iPad and iPhone designs. Samsung countersued Apple for infringing on five of its patents and asked for $519 million.
A nine-person jury spent just two and a half days puzzling out its final verdict, with weeks of notes and memories of testimony, 109 pages of jury instructions, and boxes of evidence including a collection of contested smartphones and tablets as their guide.

Facebook (FB) just can't catch a break

Today a new Reuters/Ipsos poll supports Bernstein's case and highlights investor concern over Facebook's ability to increase ad sales, which is the company's main revenue source.

Four out of five users say they never buy products or services through ads on Facebook, according to a poll taken between May 1 and June 4. In additional, the poll found 34 percent of users are spending less time on the site versus six months ago.

The stock price hit a new low Monday, closing down 30 percent from its IPO price to $26.90 a share. 

 

 

 

FACEBOOK INTERNS MAKE $75,000 a year.. INTERNS make that! yes.. I said INTERNS!!!!

WTF? Even the interns at Facebook are making big bucks — with some raking in almost $75,000.

Software engineering interns at the social networking site are paid a whopping $74,700 a year, according to salary information compiled by the website Business Insider.

Facebook may be paying interns more than other tech companies do in a bid to attract young engineers to a relatively newer company rather than a more established brand like Google, Business Insider said.

At least 10 job titles at Facebook make six figures, according to the ranking based on salary estimates from glassdoor.com.

At the top of the heap are senior software engineers, who bring in $132,503 for their expertise as coders who execute new ideas from founder Mark Zuckerberg and the site’s leaders. Not far behind are product managers at $130,143 and user interface engineers at $129,136.

Facebook was down for brief time this evening, and some users are still complaining of sluggishness on the site.

The outage appears to have begun around 4:26 p.m., according to flood of tweets by Facebook users complaining that they were unable to access the site.

The value of Facebook stock continued to fall today, losing $3.07 a share on top of last week's losses and closing at $28.84.

It started out at 38 dolalrs a share when it went online 2weeks ago..and is dropping this morning..FAST...
